(book as a work in progress) The Dreams of Frankie Cameron is a story about the struggle between the ego of the artist, the mask that we all wear and the source of his true creation, his soul connection to God. With an upcoming exhibition in Paris and a lack of inspiration and productivity, pressure is soon put on him by an art dealer to quickly come up with something new, as his reputation and that of the gallery are at stake. |

Frankie discovers with the help of his girlfriend, a Japanese-French fashion model on an assignment in the Amazon, a drug which enables his dreams to come into the world of reality, to actually materialise onto blank canvases, without him even having to touch a paintbrush. The art dealer is happy as his work begins to sell rapidly and his fame increases. He soon becomes addicted to the drug and as his ego also inflates, it takes him deeper into the darker side of himself. His girlfriend, whilst he is with a prospective client, takes the drug and commits suicide. Frankie then believes that he has to find Tsuki in his world of dreams and bring her back. It becomes a journey into a hellish labyrinth of sins, where he has to confront his dark counterpart, Oscar Sata, a designer of fashion and lifestyle in Frankie’s real world. The story is basically about conflict, between his desires of the flesh and his search for his spirit, the conflict of Western materialistic and rapid consumption values in opposition to the lost old mythic and honourable Eastern values. |
